KY Medicaid Waivers

The Division of Community Alternatives oversees the KY Department for Medicaid Service's Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Medicaid Waivers, including the Michelle P Waiver (MPW), the Supports for Community Living Waiver (SCL), the Home and Community Based Waiver (HCB) and others.  A person who is disabled or elderly may qualify for a Medicaid Wavier, which provide supports to live independently.  Learn more about each waiver and how to apply at The Division of Community Alternatives.

What is Developmental Disability? 

Developmental Disability is an umbrella term that includes many different diagnoses. The Center for Disease Control offers helpful information about conditions that are considered a developmental disability.

Intellectual Disability is included as a developmental disability.  The American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) shares clarifying information about this diagnosis.
