Financial Empowerment

There are specific finanical planning tools available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families which can help to plan for the future as well as managing day-to-day finances.  Some of these tools include: 

  • KY Medicaid Waivers
  • Special Needs Trusts
  • STABLE Accounts
  • Wills
  • Letters of Intent
  • Responsibilities of a Guardian/Conservator
  • Working while receiving Supplemental Security Income (SS)

The Council is proud to be an alliance member of Louisville Metro's Financial LADDER (Louisville Alliance for Development through Diversity, Empowerment, and Resources).  The mission of this group is "To create a community-wide culture of financial inclusiveness and accessibility that serves the diverse Louisville Metro population".  Resources for financial empowerment are available here
