Financial Empowerment

There are specific finanical planning tools available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families which can help to plan for the future as well as managing day-to-day finances.  Some of these tools include: 

  • KY Medicaid Waivers
  • Special Needs Trusts
  • STABLE Kentucky Saving Accounts for Kentuckians with Disabilities
  • Wills
  • Letters of Intent
  • Responsibilities of a Guardian/Conservator
  • Working while receiving Supplemental Security Income (SS)

Financial Empowerment Network Affiliates 

The Council is proud to be members of the following collaborative groups, promoting financial resilience in Louisville, KY: 

Louisville Community Financial Empowerment Network (LCFEN)- The Mission of this collaborative group is to drive innovation in the asset-building arena and improve the ability and confidence of Louisville residents to achieve their financial goals while expanding existing opportunities to be inclusive and accessible to all through a network of collaborative orgranizations. 

Louisville Metro's Financial LADDER (Louisville Alliance for Development through Diversity, Empowerment, and Resources).  The mission of this group is "To create a community-wide culture of financial inclusiveness and accessibility that serves the diverse Louisville Metro population".  Resources for financial empowerment are available here

Coalition for Workforce Diversity Louisville  This coalition forms trusted partnerships with employers who celebrate diversity in the workplace and are looking to provide work opportunities to people with disabilities.  See an introductory list of participating employers with available jobs here
